The legacy of Diego Maradona

Maradona is regarded as one of the greatest Soccer stars of all time. He helped Argentina reach the pinnacle to win the World Cup in 1986. He was the one responsible for the infamous ‘Hand of God’ that eliminated England from the 1986 World Cup.

Maradona’s scoring prowess and flair in slaloming past opponents vaulted him into the Soccer Hall of Fame. Brazilian legend Zico once said, “I saw Maradona do things that God himself would doubt were possible.”

As he reached old age, the Argentine legend developed heart problems caused by cocaine addiction. This resulted in wild weight and fitness swings that seemed to reflect his do-or-die attitudes to both soccer and life.
