Drew Brees may be retiring from the NFL, but the future Hall of Famer isn’t leaving the sport altogether.
The former Saints quarterback, who announced his retirement Sunday, has already agreed to join NBC Sports as a football analyst, The Post’s Andrew Marchand reported in April.
Brees, 42, is expected to start his broadcasting career as a studio analyst for “Football Night in America” and an in-game analyst for Notre Dame.
The plan appears to be for Brees to eventually succeed former NFL wide receiver Cris Collinsworth, 62, as the lead analyst in the “Sunday Night Football” booth. Mike Tirico is expected to take over play-calling duties from the 76-year-old Al Michaels after the 2022 Super Bowl.
The terms of Brees’ agreement with NBC, which was first reported by The Post, have not been disclosed.
Before agreeing to join NBC, Brees turned down an offer from ESPN believed to be in the $6 million per year range.
The NFL’s all-time leading passer with 80,358 yards joins a long list of former quarterbacks to join the broadcast ranks, including most recently Eli Manning, who announced last week that he will host a college football show on ESPN+ in the fall.
Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is earning $17 million per year as the lead football analyst for CBS, making him the owner of the largest sports analyst contract in TV history. Troy Aikman, another former Dallas star quarterback, is the lead analyst for Fox.
Brees has earned about $270 million in 20 seasons, not including endorsements.
He was MVP of Super Bowl XLIV in 2010, marking his only title.
