It’s win-or-go-home time for many fantasy football owners, so the idea of starting a “sleeper” quarterback this week probably isn’t too appealing. But sometimes the matchups are too good (or bad) to ignore, and our Week 13 fantasy QB rankings feature some potentially surprising names in the top 15.
We’re not worried about Kyler Murray just because he’s facing the Rams or Deshaun Watson going against the Colts, but Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Washington), Matt Ryan (vs. Saints), Carson Wentz (@ Packers), and Matthew Stafford (@ Bears) are among the normal starters/top streamers who are falling this week.
WEEK 13 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
Rising to take their places are Derek Carr (@ Jets), Jared Goff (@ Cardinals), Kirk Cousins (vs. Jaguars), Ryan Tannehill (vs. Browns), Taysom Hill (@ Falcons), and Philip Rivers (@ Texans). Daniel Jones (@ Seahawks) would be in that group, too, but after he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 12, we’re not high on his prospects for Week 13 if he suits up. Again, you shouldn’t necessarily start them ahead of the more proven stars (which includes Justin Herbert vs. the Patriots), but they’re all in good situations and have relatively high floors. You could also include Cam Newton (@ Chargers), Baker Mayfield (@ Titans), and whoever starts for the Dolphins (vs. Bengals), but those three teams don’t pass often, so that limits their QBs’ ceilings.
WEEK 13 PPR RANKINGS:
Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
If you’re in a two-QB league or just a competitive, deep single-QB league, you could even consider Sam Darnold (vs. Raiders), Mike Glennon (@ Vikings), or Mitchell Trubisky (vs. Lions), but that would be taking a major risk.
Overall, it’s a good week for QBs despite having two decent ones on bye (Tom Brady, Teddy Bridgewater) and some other top options with unfavorable matchups. At this point in the season, weather will be a concern, but as long as conditions are playable, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from passing offenses and defenses. Of course, things don’t always go as expected (ask Derek Carr owners), but playing the odds is usually the best move late in the year.
Note: Check back throughout the week, as we’ll continue to update our QB rankings up until kickoff based on the latest news and injury updates.
