The New England Patriots thought they had another touchdown in the second quarter of Sunday’s Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys, but there was a problem.
Starting left guard James Ferentz was called for a holding penalty, which took away Jakobi Meyers’ 25-yard touchdown catch from rookie quarterback Mac Jones.
Despite the setback, the Patriots were still in decent shape inside the Dallas 30-yard line. But then it all turned on the very next play.

Cowboys pass rusher Randy Gregory blew past the Patriots offensive line and laid a massive hit on Jones, who lost the football. Dallas recovered the fumble.

That must have hurt.
It was a pretty massive swing for the Patriots. Instead of increasing their lead to 21-7, they got zero points from the drive and gave the ball back to the Cowboys.
Fortunately for the Patriots, they’ve had little trouble moving the ball on offense against this Cowboys defense. They just need to keep Jones protected as much as possible.
