Video shows anti-masker call NYC bagel shop worker N-word

A woman was booted from a popular New York City food market for refusing to put on a mask and calling a bagel shop worker a “b–h ass n—r,” according to shocking footage obtained by The Post on Tuesday.

The anti-masker, who had four children in tow, was repeatedly asked to put on a face-covering at the Davidovich Bakery stand inside Essex Market on the Lower East Side, where she was trying to order bagels on Sunday morning.

In videos shot by a bystander, a security guard can be heard telling the woman a bakery worker wasn’t going to serve her as she continued to flout the mask rules.

“Why? Cause he’s a b—h-ass n—r, is that why?” the woman responds, sparking uproar from people standing by.

“Oooh that’s what he is,” she goes on.

The security guard then tells her that she needs to go — but the woman continues on her vile rant, saying “That’s what he is. I just said it. You heard it.”

“It doesn’t affect me that you’re not going to serve me cause you’re a b–h,” she adds.

When other customers call her out on the use of the racial slur, she shamelessly says, “I can call him whatever I want.”

“You’re white trash. You’re disgusting,” one person tells the woman, as security repeatedly tells her to leave.

She responds: “Oh, I’m white trash because I have Black kids?” referring to the children with her, including a baby in a stroller.

“Who the f–k does that?” another customer asks in shock, to which the woman replies, “People whose rights are being violated.”

“You think you’re tough with your mask on your face,” she adds.

The security guard tells her “you need to leave” and “let’s go” before the woman finally begins heading out with the kids.

New Yorker Jack Weil, 24, who shot the videos, said the woman had claimed to have a “medical exemption” for not wearing a mask.

Weil, a tax accountant who lives near the market, said he was just trying to get a bagel when the incident unfolded.

“It was pretty wild,” he told The Post on Tuesday.

“It’s not so shocking to see someone break the mask mandate but it’s shocking to escalate things in front of your children,” Weil said, adding it was “the most outright racist thing I’ve ever seen.”

He added: “The employee really took everything in stride.”

Marc Fintz-Davidovich, the bakery’s vice president, also commended the “brave” worker’s behavior and told The Post that the woman would no longer be welcome at any of their shops.

Whether the woman agreed or disagreed with the mask rules, “to attack him in that way is really unbelievable,” Fintz-Davidovich said.

“We can’t control what comes out of people’s mouth but there’s zero tolerance for racism.”

Since the incident, several customers have called to praise the staffer’s response, Fintz-Davidovich added.

A spokesman for the New York City Economic Development Corporation, which oversees Essex Market on behalf of the city, said the woman didn’t comply with requests to leave until the NYPD was contacted.

“Essex Market, NYCEDC and Lower East Side Partnership strongly denounce the racist incident that occurred in our facility on Sunday,” the spokesman said. “Hate has no place in our city or in the properties that we manage.”

“The customer who perpetrated this incident was repeatedly asked to leave the facility and did so as we were notifying the NYPD. We have reached out to the impacted vendor and security team to offer our support and commitment to ensuring a safe environment at the Market.”

The NYPD did not respond to that address Sunday, police sources said.
