Two dead in pair of car crashes in Queens

Two people died in separate car crashes in Queens early Sunday, including a Lyft driver who was struck by an alleged drunk driver and another man killed in a hit-and-run.

The first fatal collision took place around 3:10 a.m. Sunday in South Jamaica, when a 53-year-old man was driving along 144th Street when he was slammed into by a speeding 2017 Infiniti Q50, police said.

The victim, who was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima, was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Cops said the driver of the Infiniti fled the scene on foot and remains on the loose.

Less than an hour later, the 47-year-old Lyft driver was near the intersection of Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue in Maspeth when his Toyota Rav4 was struck by a 2014 Ford Explorer, police said.
