The fall out from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams endures. A tightly contested game went to Los Angeles after a game-winning field goal from the Rams. The big talking point for many was Buccaneers Head Coach Bruce Arians’ public criticism of star quarterback Tom Brady.
Arians criticizing Brady is not new, given that he has taken the post-game conference as an opportunity to deliver constructive criticism to him.
Many NFL fans and pundits have pondered over Arians’ tactic of publically calling out his star player. It is a stark contrast to Brady’s coach from New England Bill Belichick, who never criticized Brady on a public forum. Many speculate over the relationship between the player and the Head Coach.
However, there still isn’t a reason to panic. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a 7-4 record in the NFC South Conference and rank second. The Buccs are expected to make the Playoffs.
Brady signed with the Buccaneers this season after spending his entire career with the New England Patriots. The Buccaneers gambled on Brady, who is 43 years old, in order to get them some veteran experience to get them to the Playoffs.
Tom Brady accepts criticism
For Tampa Bay, they cannot harp on their loss to the Chargers. They must accept what happened and try to improve.
Tom Brady spoke to the press via video conference after their setback against the Chargers. Brady said that the team needs to accept responsibility and wanted to quell concerns.
He said, “Our job is to get the job done, so there’s no excuses for when we don’t get it done. At the end of the day, that’s the reality of the sport.
“It’s a production-based business, and when you have opportunities like we had in those two games, it’s very disappointing when you don’t [succeed], especially when you’re the quarterback and the ball is in your hands.
“It’s something I have to do a better job of.”
Brady suggested that the team and Brady himself did not do everything right during the game. “Just not executing at the highest level, I don’t think it’s more than that.
“I think we didn’t execute on some short throws [and] we didn’t execute on some medium throws. Just comes down to not as good execution as I think we’re capable of.
“We’re working hard to improve it and we’ll go out there and try and do a much better job this week.”
Brady and Tampa Bay will be taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. Many fans await the clash between the old guard in Brady and the new guard in Patrick Mahomes.
