A 49-year-old street vendor was stabbed on a Midtown street as he tried to fight off an armed robber on Sunday night, police and sources said.
The victim was knifed in his thigh by a man who stole a handbag from him just after 7 p.m. near West 50th Street and Broadway, according to police and sources.
The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, fled the scene after the attack and was still on the loose hours later.
Police said the victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
