Last Friday’s off-day allowed the Yankees to bring Gerrit Cole back for his second start of the season a day early. I personally endorse this move, as it allows me to recap a Gerrit Cole start, and Gerrit Cole starts are typically delightful.
The O’s will counter with 25-year-old right-hander Dean Kremer, who only has four MLB games under his belt, though two against New York. He acquitted himself quite nicely in those 2020 outings, limiting the Bombers to a pair of runs across 11 innings of work. Hopefully, it goes less smoothly tonight.
Aaron Hicks is off, and Brett Gardner is playing center while manning the No. 3 spot between Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Kyle Higashioka will make his season debut, spelling Gary Sánchez after the latter started the first four games of 2021.
Let’s go Yankees.
