More than 1.8mn people have received coronavirus vaccine shots globally until now: tracker

Nearly 1.8mn people have received the coronavirus vaccine globally, as per the vaccine tracker of Bloomberg.

As per the data collected by Bloomberg, China, where coronavirus had been identified in Wuhan about a year ago, is leading international community when it comes to the no. of coronavirus vaccine doses being administered, with over 1mn doses tallied as on Saturday.

Around 350,000 vaccine shots have so far been administered in the UK and 320,000 vaccine doses in Russia, shows the tracker.

The data further shows that the US, which has reported the most number of coronavirus cases and deaths worldwide, had 211,086 vaccine shots administered to its people as on Saturday.

As per the news outlet, people residing in the 38 US states have been administered the shots. 

The data gathered by Bloomberg shows Florida has so far administered the highest number of shots, with over 32,700 doses tallied. Next in line is Texas, with over 26,000 vaccine shots followed by New York with 19,000 vaccine shots. 

This news comes in a week post the first coronavirus vaccine batch was manufactured by BioNTech and Pfizer had been shipped to the US. The news outlet noted that the second batch should be administered 3 weeks post the individual gets the first vaccine dose.
