Monday Night Football DraftKings Picks: NFL DFS lineup advice for Week 13 Patriots-Bills Showdown tournaments

We’re at the end of Week 13, and football “purists” have a treat waiting for them on Monday Night Football with the Bills hosting the Patriots in inclement weather. The total dropped several points at numerous Las Vegas sportsbooks, underscoring the pessimism surrounding the offensive outlook of the matchup. If the cold, wind, and precipitation are as disruptive to each team’s respective passing attack as many are expecting, we’re going to see a lot of running and a lot of defense. Generally speaking, that’s not good for DFS tournaments, and we’re responding by loading up on RBs in our DraftKings Showdown lineup.

Here are the key scoring settings for DraftKings Showdown contests: They’re full-point PPR and there are three-point bonuses for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Patriots vs. Bills

$50,000 budget, need at least one player from each team.

Captain (1.5x points, 1.5x salary) QB Josh Allen, Bills ($16,800)

Even in a situation that is promising to be a defensive affair, we’re going to bet on Allen as our MVP because of the myriad ways he’ll be able to contribute to the offense in unfavorable conditions. Allen has three rushing scores this season and has rushed for 50-plus yards three times. Even if his production as a passer falls short, he offers potential with his legs.

FLEX RB Damien Harris, Patriots ($9,800)

This edition of the Patriots isn’t going to make a habit of dropping back 40 times in a normal game, and they’re certainly not going to do so in the adverse conditions expected tomorrow night. Harris leads the Pats’ ground game in touches and touchdowns, and he’s likely to be heavily utilized throughout the night.

FLEX RB Matt Breida, Bills ($6,600)

You’ll notice a theme in this week’s Showdown lineup. With scoring and explosive downfield plays expected to be at a premium, we’re going to lean heavily on the running backs. Breida appears to have overtaken Zack Moss on the depth chart and should be in for a healthy workload. His snaps and opportunities have increased week over week since Week 10, and he’s scored three times over his past three games. He has enough juice to be a difference-maker in this setting.

FLEX RB Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots ($5,600)

Harris is the leader of the Pats’ backfield, but the Patriots keep Stevenson busy, as well. The rookie is second on the team in touches and is a solid bet to see 10-plus and maybe even a shot at the end zone on Monday night. We’d rather bet on multiple New England backs making a dent in our lineup than try to identify which pass-catcher will emerge as the winner in a low-yield passing outlook.

FLEX TE Dawson Knox, Bills ($5,400)

While this matchup might be dominated by each team’s ground attack, if and when the Bills do experience success throwing the ball, Knox could find himself serving as the primary target. Knox has played reasonably well since returning from injury, earning 10 targets in Week 11 and scoring two touchdowns in Week 12. Passing yardage will be at a premium on Monday, but whenever the Bills enter the red zone, Knox will be a threat for six.

FLEX RB Devin Singletary, Bills ($4,600)

While the Bills field a more explosive offense on paper than the Patriots, it’s likely we see them put a lot on the shoulders of their backfield, as well. Singletary has operated as the lead back in recent weeks — his 16 opportunities in Week 12 tied a season high — and he will be in line to set a season-best in the volume category. It won’t be a shock to see him used as an outlet in the short/quick passing game if the Bills need to add some wrinkles to their attack.
