A 24-year-old man was gunned down while driving on a Bronx highway Tuesday night in a suspected road rage shooting, police and sources said.
The victim was heading southbound on the Bruckner Expressway, when the driver of a blue sedan pulled up next to him and opened fire near exit 7a at about 10:20 p.m., a witness told a 911 dispatcher, according to police.
The victim was struck in his head and chest, cops said.
When police responded, they found the victim had crashed his car into the median in between exit 7b and 8, authorities said.
There were no passengers in his vehicle.
The man was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect fled southbound on the expressway. They were still on the loose early Wednesday morning, police said.
