The Cleveland Browns entered Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals down starting running back Nick Chubb, who was nursing a calf injury.

They lost his top backup in the fourth quarter. Kareem Hunt left the field on a cart after suffering a calf injury.

The Browns ruled him out with the calf injury, but didn’t provide any other initial diagnosis details.

The Browns offense already started the day down No. 1 wide receiver Jarvis Landry and both starting tackles Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills Jr. in addition to Chubb. Now they’re looking at a short week with a Thursday night matchup against the Denver Broncos.

If there’s any solace, it’s that Baker Mayfield appeared to escape a serious injury scare of his own. The Browns quarterback landed hard on his left shoulder on a sack by JJ Watt — the same shoulder that suffered a partially torn labrum in Week 2.

He left the game for the injury tent when the Cardinals took over on offense on the ensuing play. But he returned on the next Cleveland possession before leaving again late with the Browns trailing by 23 points.
