The innocent bystander who was struck by a drive-by shooter in Staten Island last week died more than a week after the incident, authorities said Thursday morning.
The woman, identified by police sources as Sue Doe, 52, was shot just before 7 p.m. Nov. 16 as she stood in the lobby of the building on Park Hill Avenue near Sobel Court, cops said.
Doe, who was struck in the head, was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North, where she died on Wednesday after being taken off life support, police and sources said.
No arrests had been made by Thursday morning.
Last week, NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said that the incident is “definitely looking like a gang-motivated shooting.”
He said investigators found video of a white Kia Sorento that was used in the shooting. Police sources said the video showed the flash from the bullet being fired.
Commissioner Dermot Shea told 1010 WINS at the time that the area is “plagued by some gang activity.”
Doe’s 18-year-old daughter and a 21-year-old son were present when their mom was shot.
She was a leader of the New Life Church of Staten Island in West Brighton, Abraham Chea Tucker, president of the Staten Island Liberian Community Association, according to reports.
Doe worked both a day and a nighttime job, one at the Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, to support her two children and mother, Tucker said.
