The Miami Heat are jettisoning Meyers Leonard barely one week after the forward was suspended and fined by the NBA for using an anti-Semitic slur during a video game stream.

The Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder were finalizing a deal Wednesday that sent Leonard and a 2027 second-round pick to OKC for veteran forward Trevor Ariza, according to multiple reports.

Once the deal is finalized, “there’s no expectation that Leonard would be a part of the Thunder moving forward,” according to a tweet by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 29-year-old Leonard was fined $50,000 and suspended from team facilities for one week by the NBA on March 11 after he was heard using the anti-Semitic slur “k—e” during a Twitch stream while playing the video game “Call of Duty.”

Leonard posted an apology to Instagram, but NBA commissioner Adam Silver called the player’s words “inexcusable and hurtful and such an offensive term has no place in the NBA or in our society.” He also was dropped by gaming sponsors and the professional esports organization FaZe Clan over his comments.
