Freshman forward Jalen Johnson will not play the game scheduled against Irish due to a foot injury, announced the program through its official social media handles on Tuesday.
Jalen had earned the Freshman of the week honor in ACC post he played perfectly on field against the Coppin State, where he grabbed nineteen rebound, scored nineteen points had four blocked shots and five assists.
In his 1st 4 games that he played on college level, Jalen is averaging with 8.3 rebounds, 11.5 points, 2.0 blocks and 1.8 assists per game.
The first-team Preseason All-ACC nominee was named to one pre-season watch lists which includes Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy, as the topmost recruit in 2020 Blue Devils’ recruiting class. Jalen had been rated as the thirteenth overall player in this year’s class, and the third small forward as well as the first player from his home town.
As per Jerry Meyer, Director, Basketball Scouting, believes that Jalen has tremendous scope of one future lottery-pick. Meyer thinks that 6’8”wing has tremendous talent with upside and good basketball court vision as a passer.
Notably, Duke will be opening the ACC game on Wednesday against Notre Dame.
