Fernando Alonso Opens up on Why Renault F1 Boss Abiteboul Is 'Starting to Get Tired' of Him

Fernando Alonso might take the fight to the top teams on the grid next year as he returns driving for Renault. The vast motorsport experiences he has gained since his retirement in 2018 would help drive him much better next season. Moreover, Renault has shown some impressive improvement towards the end of this season.

Alonso is being subjected to countless testing chances towards the end of the season; he recently finished four days of testing sessions in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. He has also been very active with his feedback to the team.

Fernando Alonso recently joked that Cyril Abiteboul, Renault boss, is tired of his feedbacks. He said, “Right now I have sent him three messages … half an hour or so ago. I know he has read them, but he still has not responded to me.”

“I’m sure he’s starting to get tired of me, because he doesn’t even answer my messages,” said the former world champion.

Fernando Alonso is excited to make his comeback

Some believe his comeback could be a success for him and Renault. On the other hand, some believe his comeback could be like Schumacher’s return to Mercedes. The reasons stated were the Spaniard’s age and the fact that Renault is not one of the top teams at the moment.

Renault has shown one of the highest levels of improvement team this season. Alonso is already involved in the team’s improvement this season; he’s been constantly involved in testing to familiarize himself and prepare himself for the Formula 1 car next season.

He recently stated that he is excited to start aerodynamics tests in January. He pointed out, “People seem to be very surprised every time they hear about me in these respects, but I’ve always been that way.

“At McLaren everyone was surprised at how excited I was about Honda, and they thought I was happier than at Ferrari, although they also noticed my enthusiasm in Ferrari,” he further added.

Alonso will look forward to using his experiences from the last two years in Formula 1. He stated that he has always wanted to return to Formula 1. Hopefully, he will sync with the car and start fighting for podium finishes upon his return to the grid.
