Evander Holyfield set for boxing return against Kevin McBride

First came Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. Now Evander Holyfield is jumping back in the ring, continuing this bizarre trend of retired boxers fighting again.

Holyfield will meet Kevin McBride in a June 5 eight-round exhibition fight on the undercard of Teofimo Lopez’s lightweight title defense against George Kambosos, according to SI.com.

Holyfield, the 58-year-old Hall of Fame heavyweight who has been out of the sport since 2011, was interested in a fight with Tyson.

But Tyson reportedly rejected a $25 million offer for a rematch, as the two met twice during their career. One of the bouts ended with Tyson disqualified for biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear in 1997.

The 47-year-old McBride, who originally ended Tyson’s career in a 2005 bout, has been retired since 2011. The match will be eight, two-minute rounds. It will be streamed on Triller.
