Sheriff’s deputies padlocked a notorious Staten Island watering hole Friday for serving alcohol without a liquor license, authorities said.
State Supreme Court Justice Catherine M. DiDomenico issued the temporary closure order for Mac’s Public House Thursday after the city said alcohol was recently served there despite the suspension of its liquor license for defying lockdown restrictions.
The Grant City bar was closed when deputies showed up at 8 p..m., and used tools to get inside, according to city Sheriff’s spokesman Joseph Fucito.
The pub made headlines last year for staying to open for business, flouting state-mandated coronavirus restrictions.
Mac’s co-owner Daniel Presti has repeatedly been fined by the sheriff’s office for defying the restrictions and was charged with driving into a deputy outside the bar on Dec. 6. Presti did not respond to calls from the Post Saturday.
A grand jury declined to indict Presti in January on assault charges in the case, which injured Sgt. Kenneth Matos — but he was charged with operating without a license.
