While the nation’s attention has been paid to all that’s happening in the NCAA Tournament, the team with the worst record in the CBI field, Stetson (12-14), has made a run to the final four of this tournament and will look for an upset against Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.
Coastal Carolina (17-7) has a big advantage on the glass, ranking 14th in the country in rebound rate. Stetson rates 170th in this category and will look to its outside shooters to make up for the discrepancy.
The Hatters are shooting as a collective 36.9 percent from 3-point range, which ranks 46th in the country, headlined by the 3.1 made
3-pointers per game by Chase Johnston, which is the 16th-most in the country.
The Chanticleers also have a player who averages three made 3-pointers per game in Deanthony Tipler, and three of Coastal Carolina’s top four scorers convert at least 82 percent of their free throws.
With Coastal Carolina ranking 20th in the nation in opponent 3-point shooting in a road or neutral-court environment, the Chanticleers should bring an end to Stetson’s season in convincing fashion.
The Play: Coastal Carolina, -3.5.
