Atlanta Falcons hire Arthur Smith as their new head coach

The Atlanta Falcons have hired Arthur Smith as their new head coach.

The team as well as the ex-offensive coordinator for Tennessee Titans agreed to the deal on Friday, announced the organization. Smith replaces Raheem Morris and Dan Quinn. Morris had been named as the interim coach by the Falcons but was not promoted and Quinn was suspended post a difficult start.

The 38-year-old Smith played for the Titans for ten seasons, which includes the previous two as the defensive coordinator with Mike Vrabel as their head coach. The Titans finished twelfth in yards gained and tenth in the points scored in 2019 and 2nd in yards gained and 4th in the points scored last year. Tennessee made playoffs in both the seasons.

Atlanta had the chance of using one boost in its offense, which is something it has not observed since the time Kyle Shanahan ran the offense.

Though they went to playoffs two times, the Falcons lost the Super Bowl LI to Patriots. Atlanta made playoffs during 2017 season; however bounced from divisional round. Atlanta has not returned since.

Atlanta, during Quinn’s time, finished top ten in the yards gained in five games but finished in top ten in the points scored only two times.
