Asian woman harassed in latest NYC bias crime

A 65-year-old Asian woman was harassed with racial slurs in Midtown, in what police are calling the latest hate crime against the vulnerable community.

The woman — who sources said has blue hair — was approached on West 40th Street near Port Authority around 4 p.m. Friday by a man who was mocking her hairdo.

When the victim turned around to face the tormenter, his attacks became racial, sources said.

“You stupid Chinese blue hair. You stupid Chinese b—h,” the man said, according to sources.

“Why you have blue hair, b—h?” the man asked, as he continued to berate her, sources said.

The balding, bearded man also waved an unknown object at the victim as he pushed a stroller full of “unknown objects,” said police, who are searching for the suspect.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the latest bias crime against the community, as reports of anti-Asian hate crimes soar nationwide.

The department has recorded a 1,300 percent increase in the attacks since the coronavirus pandemic began.
