The Vikings lost one of their top receiving weapons earlier in their Week 13 matchup with the Lions.

Adam Thielen suffered an ankle injury on the Vikings’ first drive of the game. He caught a pass for no gain and was tackled. His ankle got caught under the defender while going to the ground, and he came up lame.

Thielen was originally deemed “questionable” to return to the game. However, the Vikings announced before the second half began that Thielen would be out for the remainder of the contest as a result of the ankle injury.

Thielen’s absence will thin out Minnesota’s receiving corps. The Vikings will have to rely on Justin Jefferson as the team’s true No. 1 receiver with Thielen unavailable while KJ Osborn will step into the No. 2 receiver role for the Vikings. Dede Westbrook will also get more playing time; he’ll be the team’s new No. 3 receiver.

Tight end Tyler Conklin could also see more targets. He almost caught a touchdown earlier in the game but was barely out of bounds.

Minnesota’s top running back Dalvin Cook is already out for Week 13 because of a shoulder injury, so the Vikings will be very short on offensive weapons as they look to earn a come-from-behind victory against the winless Lions.
